Member Benefits
The Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce has a variety of services and events designed to help you reach your business goals. We are actively committed to helping you meet the needs of your business and the Sunnyvale community. As a membership-driven organization, we provide our members with direct key benefits.
Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce Business Directory: This full color semi-annual magazine and Chamber membership directory with buyer’s guide is distributed to 5,000 members, new residents, and business prospects. Chamber members only are listed twice for free (alphabetically and by classified categories) providing high visibility to potential customer.
Internet Exposure : The Chamber has a website (www.svcoc.org) that includes a business directory of our members in both alphabetical and categorical order, giving them FREE worldwide exposure. Members may also be hyper-linked to their own home page, for FREE, through the Business Directory.
Map: Every eighteen months, the Chamber publishes an area map with distribution of 10,000. Only members may take advantage of display advertising opportunities.
Online Training: In 2008, the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce and Foothill-De Anza Colleges became partners to offer Chamber members and other individuals online courses designed for the busy professional. These online courses are six-weeks, and cover topics from business adminstration to web design.
Newsletter: Each month the Chamber newsletter “Business Progress” is mailed to over 1000+ leading businesses and individuals. This publication is the most widely read business digest with information on Chamber activities and programs, legislation impacting business, new benefits for members, and community events. Other features of the publication are “Members in Action”, guest columns and articles, as well as news briefs that share items of interest regarding Chamber members. New members are briefly profiled, promoting their businesses. Very affordable display advertising is also available to members only.
Direct Mail Inserts in the Business Progress : Chamber members are invited to participate in a monthly direct mail advertising program allowing them to reach 1000+ of their best prospects. Members may bring in copies of their 8½ X 11” flyer and the Chamber will do the rest of the work – the stuffing, labeling, sorting, and delivery…all for less than the cost of the postage alone. Also, because the ads are enclosed in the Chamber’s newsletter, they are given more attention than most.
Business Resource Center: Members may advertise on Chamber office profile display center, giving them exposure to 200 potential clients per month.
Connect with Sunnyvale business expo: This autumn event, held at Lockheed Martin, has proven to be an effective marketing tool for its 35 Chamber members that display their goods and services. Participants gain exposure to over 3,000 enthusiastic Lockheed Martin employees.
Summer Business Expo: Our Summer Business Expo brings a unique opportunity for you to connect with a variety of Sunnyvale residents and businesses to introduce your business and services. The Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to experience the opportunity to gain exposure within the community.
Grand Openings - Ribbon Cuttings: These ceremonies increase the visibility of new or expanding businesses and are provided to Chamber members only. Pre-event and post-event articles and photos in the “Business Progress” Chamber news-letter provide extensive free advertising and promotion. These events increase the host business’ visibility and are often attended by the city officials, Chamber Ambassadors and officers, as well as the media and invited public.
Member Sponsorships: High visibility and advertising value is offered to members who sponsor a Chamber event, such as Mixers, Wake Up! Sunnyvale, and the Art & Wine Festival. As event sponsors, their name is often prominently displayed and promoted. Pre-event publicity and mailings afford them broad advertising exposure at no additional cost above their sponsorship fee.
Networking Opportunities
Mixers: These networking events are held the fourth Thursday of each month from 5 – 7 p.m. with 80-150 in attendance. This is a great networking investment that attracts a broad cross-section of business people. New members are briefly introduced and have an opportunity to speak briefly about their business.
5th Thursday Joint Mixers Joint mixers with the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce occur on the 5th Thursday of the month from 5:30-7:30pm. These “Mega-mixers” will be held the 5th Thursday (4 times a year) at various locations within Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. This is another great networking opportunity.

There are currently three STAR groups; Wednesdays at 7:30 am and Thursdays at 9am, and 1 pm, all at the Chamber office. Participation is by membership only with no direct competitors involved in the same group.

Participants benefit from this forum for referral and lead generation as well as hearing from speakers on topics of vital concern to the business community.
